Universal AC Remote Setup Guide
Understand the common manual and automatic code-search process used by universal AC remotes.
Before setup
Confirm that the universal remote supports your AC brand, insert fresh batteries and point it toward the indoor unit. Keep the AC powered and ready to receive a signal.
Manual code entry
Some universal remotes include a brand-code list. Enter setup mode using the button combination shown in the supplied instructions, select the relevant code and test power, temperature, fan and mode functions.
Automatic code search
When you do not know the code, many universal remotes can scan codes automatically. Start the search while pointing at the AC and stop when the indoor unit responds. Save the code immediately, then test the main functions.
If only some buttons work
The first responsive code may not support every feature. Continue testing other codes listed for the brand. Advanced functions can differ, and some AC models may require a more specific replacement remote.
